Our district has been working closely with Janet for the last two years. Her guidance has been absolutely key to shifting from thinking about curriculum mapping to making it actually happen! Her hands-on approach and thorough knowledge of curriculum truly inspires all of our teachers to give this initiative their all. I don’t usually get thanked for asking teachers to sit on a committee, but one teacher really summed up the enthusiasm that is felt by those involved in mapping. She writes, “Thank you for inviting me to represent 4th grade on the curriculum task force. I think we are doing fantastic things for our district with curriculum mapping. The summer work was one of the most worthwhile activities I have participated in, in a long time. I left feeling that I had truly contributed to something wonderful for our students. I am excited to see where this will bring our district!”

When 23 of our teachers and administrators attended our first Curriculum Mapping Institute in Utah we wanted to do mapping “right.” We went to Janet’s workshop and met with her. We knew immediately that she could lead us through this process. She has never proven us wrong! Her visits without exception have left us with information, direction, renewed enthusiasm, and encouragement to keep moving forward. She addressed our entire elementary staff during her last visit and all teachers were left with a renewed understanding of “the big picture.” Her blend of expertise, energy, patience, and kindness create the perfect formula for success. Thank you, Janet!

Director of Instruction
It was our good fortune to have joined forces with Janet Hale as we began our journey into Curriculum Mapping this past school year. Through her stewardship, support, and smiles, our teachers are beginning to have those rich collegial dialogues that lead to best practices and a greater understanding of the curriculum. Realizing that we have just completed the first portion of this venture, we will continue to draw upon Janet’s expertise and insights as we carry on. Janet has won a special place in the hearts of our administrators, principals, cabinet members, and faculty!

When our district was looking for guidance on how to move ahead with curriculum design, we turned to Janet. She has been able to explain the processes in very practical terms, which makes implementation more manageable. She helped re-focus the process on what's best for students based on our state standards. It has made for very rich and productive conversations throughout our district.

After attending the Curriculum Mapping Institute in Utah, our entire administrative team agreed Janet Hale was the consultant we wanted to guide our district in our curriculum mapping efforts. Janet’s in-depth knowledge, practical approach, sensitivity, and humor have served us well as we have taken our journey. She is able to take the theory of curriculum mapping and present the concepts in a practical context for all grade levels and all content areas.
